Marry YourSelf First Success Principle #20

Ken Donaldson
Success Principle # 20

Be Perfectly Imperfect

Recognize, accept and embrace the perfect imperfection of you. What this means is that you are perfect just the way you are. Yes, even though you, me and all of us have all these imperfections. Here’s an experiment: Look at a tree and notice all its imperfections.

The lack of symmetry, the broken branches, the leaves falling off, the bark coming off. The whole tree is totally imperfect! However, that tree is exactly the way it’s supposed to be right now. It should not be any different than it is right now. Therefore that means that tree is perfect in its imperfection.

And you’re just like the tree. Yes, you have imperfections and if you’re anything like me, you have many of them! But when you accept the perfect imperfection of you, you’ll be much more accepting of yourself, much nicer to yourself and much happier. You’re likely to project this all towards others as well. You’ll also find that your life will go a whole lot easier when you accept the perfect imperfection of you!

No one is perfect... that's why pencils have erasers. ~Author Unknown

Marry YourSelf First Success Principle #19

Ken Donaldson
Success Principle #19

Breathe, Walk and Laugh

When you practice the art of silliness, deliberately breathe and engage in conscious walking, you give yourself the best and simplest health and well being formula possible. I know you’re probably wondering what this silliness part is all about. Well, here’s something you probably didn’t know: Many, many years ago, “silliness” was considered a blessing.

When somebody referred to somebody else as being silly, it was actually considered a very positive experience. They would actually bless each other with silliness. Needless to say that’s changed over the years. In fact, silliness now has more of a negative meaning to it.

Here’s the deal: Silliness is still a blessing. When you engage in silliness you give yourself the gift of light heartedness.

Silliness allows you to have a good sense of humor, especially in being able to laugh at yourself. And that is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself. Learn how to laugh at your mistakes and your errors and especially learn how to
laugh at your humanness.

While you’re mastering the art of silliness, take some casual walks. No, not “power walks”, although they’re fine too. What I’m referring to is a nice, slow, easy going walk just to be out moving in life. Yes, walking to just get some fresh air and some sunshine. You’ll enjoy life more just by simply walking.

And there’s also breathing: Do it and do it on purpose! Take some nice, long, deep breaths several times every day. When some people get stressed they actually hold their breath. You might even do that yourself. Purposely and consciously breathe and you’ll make your lungs and heart very happy.

Give your stress wings and let it fly away. ~ Carin Hartness
