This includes being proactive, or assertive, and asking for what you want.
And, on the other hand, it’s also letting people know what you don’t want or what’s unacceptablefor you. Do this and you’ll create your highest self-respect and self-esteem.
But your boundaries are even more than that. You also have boundaries that you set with yourself. What this means is to set boundaries between different parts of your life, so, for example, finding time for your friends, time to exercise and time just to rest and relax, would all be examples of you setting boundaries with yourself so you can have the most balance possible in your life.
In this day and age there is a big invitation out there to get into a workaholic mode. “Bigger, better, faster, more, now” seems to be the paradigm many people and businesses operate from. Having the inner boundaries with yourself AND having external boundaries, together makes for a winning combination.
